Our first weekend has passed successfully. We had a bit of a lie in on Saturday morning as we are still sorting out Daisy's sleeping arrangements. She is so active in her sleep that sleeping in our bed is impossible as we all stay awake. i am not sure who gets crankier, me (Lea) or her! There was also an 'incident' of the wild creature kind during the night. Our cleaner had left the windows open so after the rains the little creatures started to move in. We sorted this out but had the heebies for quite a while after this. It certainly reminded me that we were in the tropics! We have dragged one of the little sitting chairs into our room for Daisy to sleep on and it now looks like a little extension off my side of the bed. At least she is comfortable but I wake everytime she moves afraid that she will throw herself over the edge of the arm or something. On Saturday afternoon we met up with Karsten who has just arrived from the US Dell. We all went to a big american looking shopping mall. It was nice to be a bit western for a while. We had a fabulous meal in the food court. Saturday night was quiet. Sunday morning we went for a walk to the little park up the road. This is where the photo was taken. It was nice to be outside and it gave us time to jus tsit and soak it in. We then went and bought some groceries which turn out to be really expensive. When we get settled I will learn to eat local food and things will be much cheaper. Sunday evening saw closed windows and more rain and thunder and lightening. We can't wait to move to somewhere that we can see the rain a bit better as the hotel here is lovely but a bit built up and it lies under a huge flame tree. The trees and plants here are very tropical and remind me of Australia. We are hoping to get an apartment near to where Chris works and the gardens are full of frangipani trees and coconut palms! We survived our first weekend. We spent a lot of time on the internet looking at google earth to get our bearings and activites and sights to see. I think that when we sort out a few hitches we are really going to enjoy it!

We are going totally vegetarian!! Chick peas all the way. I am sure though that they would have curry sauce with the chips!
